“I was pretty confused at first,” said Jeff Martinez ’16 of the bizarre, seemingly unrelated questions printed under the standard BDH masthead. “At first I thought it was just a text-only graphic that took up the entire upper half of the front page,” he said, adding, “Sometimes they do that.”

“I don’t really get why they want to know both where I like to study and where I like to masturbate,” said Sonja Feldman ’17. Feldman and multiple other students agreed that the last question, asking if they’ve ever cried in a campus building, was uncalled for.

“We are committed to furthering our mission of providing members of the Brown community with the information they need to govern themselves,” the Herald’s editorial board wrote in an online statement. “At times this requires printing an issue devoid of articles, photographs, illustrations or opinion pieces.”

At press time, multiple sources observed that despite the utter lack of content, the inaugural issue managed to still be somewhat racially insensitive.
