“We are incredibly excited to announce the release of our first AR story!” exclaimed BDH Editor-In-Chief Phil Jameson ’20. “We always strive to provide cutting-edge, relevant news coverage to the Brown Community, and our first immersive story helps us achieve this goal by constructing an alternate reality where this is actually the case!”

Jameson explained that readers can simply use their smartphones to scan a QR code embedded in the print newspaper, which then in turn opens a camera web app. “Then,” Jameson continued, “If you move your phone around, you’ll see a simulated world where every student in sight is rushing to our newsstands for a chance to grab the latest edition!”

“When you point your camera at the paper, our state-of-the-art AR technology even adds in a few people desperately trying to catch a glimpse of all the exciting stories on your copy! It’s as if our content actually does matter!”

As of press time, the BDH’s Immersive Section was close to finishing a truly revolutionary augmented reality piece that just made the paper disappear altogether.
