The most commonly reported reason for their refusal was: “I’ve pointed to enough things on maps already, isn’t that good enough? And what’s in it for me?”

“I don’t want to point to Afghanistan on a map,” reported Jason Fitzwitz. “No. I said no. I just won’t, fuck off! You can’t tell me what to do!”

“I’ve pointed to eight countries on maps this year already,” commented AnneMarie Kyle. “I guess I could point to Afghanistan, but, you know, that’s 10 seconds I could spend on something else.”

At press time, Gallup released another poll that indicated that the majority of Americans were similarly unwilling to point to Israel, Iraq, Syria or any country at all, even if asked to nicely. It is currently unknown whether or not Americans will refuse to distinguish a map from a non-map if asked to do so.
