“We know fans were all very disappointed last month when we had no choice but to cancel March Madness,” said NCAA President Mark Emmert in a statement released Tuesday. “So we’re very excited to announce that, to make up for the loss of March Madness this year, we’re going to have indefinite madness instead.”

Emmert explained that while the March Madness tournament was always confined to a single month, there’s no end in sight for the new indefinite madness.

“That’s right, basketball fans everywhere can enjoy indefinite madness all the time from now on,” he continued, emphasizing that the new replacement for March Madness would continue in perpetuity. “In fact, thanks to indefinite madness, we may never see another March Madness tournament again.”

In a similar move, the NBA recently announced that this year’s championship will be the final Finals.
