“There has been widespread misunderstanding regarding these separate spaces on campus, all of which are named in recognition of the Friedman family and their generous donations,” wrote Paxson, urging students not to mix up the main green building, the Sciences Library basement, a large lecture hall, and a popular bagel shop on Thayer. “I can assure you, however, that these are four different places, with four distinct purposes. Also, these properties are not the same as Friedman Refectory or the recently rebranded restaurant on Wickenden, Duck and Friedman.”

At press time, plans were announced to change Brown’s name to Friedman University.
