“This new program is an unparalleled engagement opportunity for community-oriented students,” said Executive Director of the Swearer Center Mathew Johnson. “Our students are always looking to engage in their community, and this new program will allow them to become engaged — and stay engaged — in new ways.”

The program, called the Engaged Community Fellows, engages students in the Brown community, Providence community, and Rhode Island communities. “Community is at the center of the engagement we do,” Johnson continued. “Without engagement, there’s no community. And without community, there’s nowhere to engage. This philosophy is at the center of the Engaged Community Fellows program.”

When asked for more details about the program, Johnson engaged with the question: “Engaged Community Fellows will engage with fellow community members, and other engaged fellows in the community. This engagement will strengthen communities, and student engagers will benefit from increased engagement opportunities.”

At press time, Johnson announced the Swearer Center would be rebranded as the Engaged Center for Community Engagement.
