Robinson started his show with a customary “How’s everybody doing tonight?” before sprinting onto the stage in front of a politely curious stand-up club audience. Curiosity turned quickly to dismay as, true to his reputation, Robinson continued a career-long streak of crass, tasteless jokes, failing to elicit even a smile from anyone watching.

“You guys are hard nuts to crack,” Robinson explained after a particularly bad joke bombed. “You’ve got to lighten up! Laughing’s become a lost art.”

For Robinson, it was lost 10 years ago, when he began his lackluster career. He has not once made anyone laugh, on stage or off, although he asserts this is because 21st century audiences have lost the meaning of true humor.

“I’m an equal opportunity offender,” said Robinson after the show, waiting a few steps from the stage to see if anyone would come up to congratulate him. “Some people just aren’t ready for that, I guess.”
