“I’m excited to act on my broad platform of ideas to help the student body, especially by quieting down about the UCS election after this is all over,” Thompson said in one post, emphasizing that his first act as UCS President would be to stop plastering Instagram and Facebook with lists of his priorities and endorsements. “It’s long past time that our student government representatives take action to eliminate posts about the UCS election from students’ newsfeeds. I believe I am the candidate best positioned to do that.”

“If you elect me as your next UCS President, I promise I will never again post a picture of my face and name asking for your vote,” the post continued, noting that Thompson was even committed to deleting the Instagram account he created exclusively for the UCS election campaign. “As your president, I will ensure there is radio silence about UCS from all of my personal social media pages. I’m running for UCS President so that I can make sure you forget there is a UCS President after I become UCS President.”

Staying true to his word, Thompson ceremoniously removed the UCS campaign frame from his Facebook profile picture after the election.
