Levy explained how he tested out the costume last month because "we always do Hanukkah a few days after Thanksgiving on my dad's side so my grandparents don't have to pay to come up from Florida twice."

According to his younger brother Sam Levy, Matt walked around the living room before dinner in ghoulish clown makeup, a green wig, and a purple blazer, smacking his lips and asking his grandparents if they knew how he got these scars. "It was a particularly nasty game of dreidel with Uncle Morty," Sam began before being called into the dining room by his mother to set up the menorah.

The costume was met with lukewarm enthusiasm by the other members of the Levy family. "Sure I've seen the movie," said Sam. "It was just a little weird when Matt went 'Here's my card,' in his Joker voice and gave me a Hallmark card that said 'Chag Urim Sameach'. I don't think Great-Grandpa Morris quite knew what to make of it all."

At mealtime, Levy reportedly asked menacingly, "Want to see a magic trick? I'm gonna make these latkes disappear!"

"Heath Ledger definitely deserves a posthumous Oscar for his performance as the joker," said Levy, a proud member of the Facebook group "Heath Ledger deserves a Posthumous Oscar for his performance as 'The Joker.'" "He totally, like, disappeared into that role. And I'm going to disappear into the role of him disappearing into that role. Does that blow your mind or what?" Levy looks forward to donning the costume for Hanukkah with his mother's side of the family.

"I've just got like a really sharp sense of the zeitgeist, I guess," continued Levy modestly. "I've already got my Sarah Palin costume picked out for New Year's. She sure is wacky, right? She hunts moose! Take it from me, she's going to be the next big meme."
