At a party this past weekend, many were surprised by Devon, a chipmunk whose voice is so deep he just sounds like a regular guy. “I was taken aback to hear a man’s voice come out of that little chipmunk frame,” said Megan Jones in complete shock as she contemplated Devon’s dude-like timbre. “I guess I thought they all had high-pitched voices, like, as a rule. I thought he’d be like Alvin or those other chipmunks, with their little hats and sweatshirts. But no, he’s got a resonant baritone and is wearing a polo shirt. At press time, a 10-inch-tall orphan boy who could only speak in rat dialect was upset to be passed over for the role of Stuart Little.
