Area Dad Won’t Stop Showing Daughter’s Boyfriend His GoPro Mountain Biking Videos

Published Sunday, October 27th, 2013

According to sources within the Warren house, local father and avid mountain biker David Warren won’t stop showing his daughter’s boyfriend, Josh, all of his GoPro mountain biking videos.

“After dinner, he took me into the living room and said he had something to show me,” said Josh, who has been dating Warren’s daughter, Kathy, for two weeks. “Then he got out his laptop and started playing this first-person video of him going down a mountain trail on a bike. I guess he had made it by sticking one of those GoPro cameras on his helmet. It was a really long video and I can’t say I got much out of it.”

He added, “Oh, now he’s putting another one on. I guess I’ll just keep watching?”

The videos, of which there appears to be an endless supply, are more or less identical, in that each is a 15-30 minute first-person video documentation of Warren bicycling on a mountain trail. In addition to occasional grunts and involuntary exclamations, the videos also feature in-the-moment narration by Warren, who speaks on a variety of topics from his gear-changing strategy to the level of water in his CamelBak.

While watching the videos with Josh, Warren had reportedly said, at various moments, “This is the good part,” or “This next part is the best,” each time referring to a part virtually indistinguishable from all the other parts.

“I don’t know what to say, so I just keep saying ‘Wow,’” Josh commented while viewing his third video of Warren biking down a mountain. “That’s probably a mistake. I think he thinks I’m really interested in it or impressed by it or something. I wish someone from the family would come get me.”

“He keeps looking at me in certain moments like I should be reacting, and it’s really stressful,” added Josh. “Please help me."

“I don’t know Josh that well, and he doesn’t really know me,” said Warren, preparing to show Josh another self-produced mountain biking video. “But after I show him this sweet GoPro of me tearing up the Chippewa trailhead, there’s gonna be no question in his mind as to who I am and what I’m about: pounding the pedal and shredding rubber in fourth gear.”
