Area Fan Would’ve Totally Made That Fadeaway Three-Point Buzzer Beater

Published Friday, March 7th, 2014

While watching a primetime matchup between the Miami Heat and Golden State Warriors in his living room Sunday night, Bay Area resident Patrick Paulson adamantly declared that, had he been playing, he would’ve easily made the fade away three-point jumper that all-star Stephen Curry missed right before the buzzer.

“He had the shot and he missed it!” exclaimed Paulson, referring to the three-foot vertical leap and quarter-inch margin of accuracy necessary even to attempt the shot. “When it’s in your hands, you gotta get the ball in the hoop and finish the play.”

Paulson, who works a desk job at a local car company, loudly attributed the missed shot to Curry’s failure to separate himself properly from the two defenders that were guarding him.

“If he had gotten a little more arc on that shot it would’ve sailed right through the net instead of bouncing off the rim like that. He’s got no hustle,” claimed Paulson emphatically, who spends 80 fewer hours practicing basketball than Curry does each week. “When are we gonna get some guys who can actually play ball?”

Paulson later admitted that it was a tough shot to make after receiving such a bad pass off the inbounds play, and added that if he had been making the pass, things would have been different.
