Area Man Starting To Suspect Wife Not Coming Home From 12-Year Business Trip

Published Friday, March 7th, 2014

Though he emphasized that he can’t speak with certainty, area man John Prescott told reporters this afternoon that he is beginning to suspect his wife Beth might not be coming home from the business trip she’s been on for the past 12 years.

“I’m starting to worry that something has happened to her,” Prescott said about his wife, who left for an alleged securities conference in February of 2002 and has not been heard from since. “The weather in Colorado is definitely a doozy this time of year, so it’s possible her return flight has had trouble getting off the ground. However, the fact that she left over a decade ago and has not once attempted to make contact with me is pretty weird."

“Yeah,” Prescott continued. “Saying it aloud to myself right now definitely makes it sound super weird.”

“She did make that joke the night before she left about how she was going to get remarried and start a new life in Denver with a talented high school baseball coach,” Prescott added while browsing the web to check flight cancellations at Denver International Airport. “At the time I thought, ‘That’s just Beth’s sense of humor.’ But I’m feeling pretty suspicious now because of that gag. Very misguided gag.”

Despite Beth’s 10-year-plus absence, Prescott told sources that he had not really worried about his wife’s whereabouts until now. “I didn’t really think twice about it,” said Prescott, who added that he has been saving takeout in expectation of her return for nearly five years. “A few days, two weeks, a decade. It kind of all blended together for me.”

“It’s definitely possible that I have missed something here,” he added.

“Beth told me when she left that she would be back someday and would keep me in her thoughts forever, though,” Prescott said, noting that those were her words exactly. “She also said that I shouldn’t mention to anyone that she was leaving and should ignore the fact that a moving truck would arrive in the afternoon to take some of our furniture to the cleaners.”

“Hm,” Prescott continued. “I’ll be the first to admit that this is pretty fishy, but I can’t imagine Beth would have fibbed about this stuff. She’s not really a fibber. Very fishy, though.”

At press time, Prescott had just discovered a website featuring photos of his wife with a strange man and two school-aged children.

“Okay, honestly really concerned about this,” Prescott said. “Very suspicious.”
