During an interview at her Beverly Hills home on Sunday, Daytime Emmy Award winner Hana Taylor expressed her desire to break out of entertainment and begin a new life in the restaurant industry. “This has always been a part-time thing,” she stated. “You know, something to hold me over until I find the right opening.”
Taylor confirms it’s not the first time she’s tried to pursue her goal. “I spent my first year out of college in Columbus, Ohio working as a diner hostess,” she said. “But nothing really came of that.”
Since falling in love with the business after eating at a steak house as a child, Taylor says that she always knew she wanted to wait tables. “I had big dreams, but my parents wanted me to do something more practical, so I ended up auditioning for a few theater companies, and I just kind of fell into a routine.”
“I’m used to taking a lot of odd jobs,” the Golden Globe nominee noted. “A supporting role in a feature film here, a stint on Broadway there, a five-season arc on a medical drama—whatever seems like the right call. You do what you have to do when you’re following your dream. I’ve wanted to wait tables since I was a little girl.”
Despite being unsuccessful in the past, she confided that she was recently called for an interview at a major franchise, which she was contractually obligated not to name.
“I just can’t wait to get out of this town,” added Taylor, referring to Hollywood.
