Sources report that a recent Brown Motion Pictures movie is just two young people having an existential discussion at India Point Park.
“I really wanted to make something that was a product of the time we’re living in,” said writer-director Mark Adams ’22, emphasizing how important it was that his main characters be college students in their early 20s who do not leave India Point Park for the duration of the film. “And what better way to accomplish that than having two actors talk about the time they’re living in?”
“College is such a contemplative time,” Adams added while inserting Kantian philosophy into dialogue for the 20-minute scene, which takes place exclusively at India Point Park. “Our characters learn a lot about life by lying on the grass and vibing while discussing 18th-century social philosophy.”
“The smoke stacks juxtapose with the windmills to create an existential synergy that I thought the film would lack otherwise,” said Adams, lighting one of his actors’ prop cigarettes as he explained that the decision to set the entire film on the lawn at India Point Park was a deliberate one. “The old wooden poles also represent the anguish that the characters feel at the likelihood of never leaving a lasting impact on the world around them.”
At press time, the film crew was setting up for another film, which featured a 10-minute party scene set in The Underground.
