According to local witnesses this past Wednesday, humpback whale recently beached on Narraganset Point is hoping to stay there for a bit.
“Its eyes appear to be saying ‘just give me a moment,’” reported local wildlife enthusiast Chris Ferguson. “If I know anything about whales, I know that this guy would really rather not rejoin his companions in the sea.”
“It could be that he just needs a chance to chill out on land,” Ferguson speculated, finally giving up on his mission to roll the stubborn ocean beast back into the big blue sea. “Even the largest of mammals sometimes need a break. Maybe we’ll just let him sit for a bit.”
At press time, the whale was making sounds that closely resembled mournful shanties.
