Dad Singing Guitar Solo Again

According to his children, local dad Henry McFerrin is singing the guitar solo from Guns N’ Roses’ “Sweet Child o’ Mine” on the drive to school again.

McFerrin’s children emphasized the fact that their father would break into loud vocal renditions of guitar solos three to four times a week. “Dad put on the classic rock station as usual,” said McFerrin’s son, Fred. “When there’s a guitar solo coming up, he always says, ‘I’m gonna take the solo this time, boys!’ as if we’d ever want to take it. Ugh.”

“Hell, I got into it,” said McFerrin. “I like my guitar sound. I do a lot of ‘bee doo neener’ kinds of sounds. I love those guitar solos. Good stuff.”

Sources say McFerrin was doing a sharp head thrust to the beat throughout the solo, which is a “go-to” move in his jams. “Hey, they groan but I know deep down they love it,” said McFerrin. “I’d shred if they didn’t! I don’t care! I’m pretty good at it too.”

McFerrin explained that for higher “shreds” he usually sings on the name “Dan.” “It’s my brother’s name and fits really well for the higher notes.”

At press time, McFerrin was tapping his fingers on the steering wheel and asking his kids to join in on the choru
