Doctor Likes To Think Of Himself As Vet For Humans

Published Friday, December 5th, 2014

Citing his lifelong love of people and knowledge of “what makes humans tick,” area general practitioner Stanley Friedman said he thinks of himself as a veterinarian except for humans.

“The key is to treat human patients just as well as you would cats or dogs,” said Friedman, who operates a successful family practice on Providence’s East Side. “After all, people need love too.”

“I’ve always reminded myself that my patients are an integral part of someone’s family,” said Friedman. “These aren’t just humans; they’re people.”

Friedman told reporters that he had considered becoming a vet, but decided to become a physician because of his love of humans. “I was always around people growing up, and I guess that just stuck with me,” said Friedman.

Friedman maintains that his favorite part of his job is watching the humans who come to his practice get better. “Humans, just like everyone else, deserve good medical care,” said Friedman. “They’re just so helpless and fragile.”
