Eisenhower Middle School students Fred Pacer and Sydney Jackson plan to share a pair of headphones in the back seat of the school bus this afternoon. The pair’s announcement comes after several moments of awkward and prolonged eye contact in second-period Science, fifth-period Music and hallway break period over the past few days. Tentative plans to share headphones were made yesterday through a lunchtime note, and Pacer borrowed his older brother’s iPod Nano earlier today.
“Well Fred definitely like-likes Sydney, which is fine but I guess Sydney doesn’t really like-like Fred, I don’t think,” reported seventh-grade classmate and confidant Jean Thornton. “But Sydney L. definitely like-likes Fred, probably, because she told her cousin to tell him that she thinks that he’s cute and this must be terrible for her because Sydney J. and Fred are going to listen to No Doubt together this afternoon and everyone everywhere knows what that means.”
Sources confirm that the bus driver definitely cannot see the back row from her mirror otherwise she would have stopped Dylan from showing everyone that pack of cigarettes that one time. The pair plan to sample from the iPod’s selection of pop-punk and classic rock singles. While Pacer will maintain the he does not like rap music, Jackson plans on experimentally using the s-word to describe her parents’ taste in music and movies. He will wear one earbud and she will wear another—but it will be the same pair, which basically means they are ready to share and do all kinds of stuff together.
Fred plans to listen to music with Sydney until the bus reaches two stops from his house, at which point he has to walk to the front and sit in the exit row. If all goes well, the conversation will continue over instant messenger.
