Everyone from the office will be getting drinks tonight at Little Steven’s Bar & Grill, report inside sources, which means that Jill from Accounts Receivable will probably also be making an appearance. The furtive eye-contact maker has often hinted at the possibility of socializing outside of work but has thus far proved unavailable in previous attempts to go get a casual cup of coffee or see a movie or something.
“I don’t know—are you going?” Jill replied upon being asked, which Tony in Accounting says is either a very good sign or a very bad sign, but he wasn’t sure which. “I’m pretty tired, so I might just go home.”
It would definitely be interesting to see how Jill behaves outside of the workplace—and not in some sort of team-building context either. She has that calendar with all the pictures of Monet’s water lilies, so she seems like she’s probably smart or creative. Also her email signature is sort of funny. Little Steven’s isn’t the best bar and grill in town, but Rhonda organized the after-work drinks and she seemed pretty set on the location. If someone were to ask her to change it to a quieter venue—perhaps with more intimate lighting or booths so that not everyone from the office could sit together and some would have to split off into groups of three or maybe even two—she would definitely know something is up. Rhonda is friends with Susan and Susan is the office gossip so Rhonda cannot know that something is up.
But Rhonda said that everyone from the office is getting drinks tonight and Jill is part of everyone so Jill will definitely be there. It is going to be a magical, life-changing night but it is also going to be casual and professional.
