Following the onset of colder fall weather, the McCool family decided they were done buttering up their neighbors until they could use their pool again next summer.
“We swallow our pride for four months and really kiss up to the Taylors,” explained Mrs. McCool, putting the family’s beach towels back into a closet until next year. “It’s not a noble choice and if it was a smaller pool, I might think twice about sucking up to them. But because it’s Olympic sized, heated, and has a little jacuzzi on the side, it’s really a no-brainer.”
Sources report that the McCools brought over snacks, cleaned the pool using that long net, and frequently asked how the Taylors’ adult children were doing in order to get on the family’s good side.
“It’s nice having that weight off our back and to not have to feign interest in how Mrs. Taylor has gotten more involved with our local Rotary Club since she retired,” admitted Mr. Taylor. “It gets exhausting but it’s definitely worth it for four months out of the year.”
At press time, Bobby and Luke McCool offered to mow the Taylors’ lawn in the hopes that they could jump off the diving board one more time.
