I Know We’ve Been Together For 22 Years, But We’ve Been Growing Apart, And I Think It’s Time We See Other People by Your Pediatrician

Published Friday, October 27th, 2023

Hey, buddy. I know this may come as a surprise, but I think this talk is long overdue. Basically, I think we should start seeing other people. I know we’ve been together for a long time. Gosh, what is it, 22 years now? Yeah, time really flies. I remember when we first met, you were still so optimistic then. We were both different, I suppose. Everything was easier. You, with your nipple confusion, and me, with my med school debt. But we aren’t the people we were then. You’ve changed, I’ve changed, and ultimately, this relationship isn’t what it used to be. And that’s ok. I want to stay friends, though. Maybe you’ll send me a big framed picture of your family I can hang in my waiting room. I know it’s sad, but it’s natural. Just because we aren’t formally together doesn’t mean we can’t get coffee from time to time. Look, I get it. I was your first, and you never forget your first. But I promise I will never forget you, either—until our filing system gets full again and we have to throw away all our old documents.
