I Still Don't Understand What Gemini Restaurant Is, By The Owner Of Gemini Restaurant

Published Sunday, October 27th, 2013

Seriously, can someone tell me what’s going on with that Gemini restaurant on Waterman street? The sign says it’s owned by the same guy who used to own Spice Thai Restaurant—that is, me—but I still don’t understand this place.

It’s “Eurasian cuisine,” I guess. Is that like European and Asian? Doesn’t that encompass most types of food? I’m really just not sure what this restaurant is trying to be.

The menu’s split into two halves, where one of those halves is just the same menu as Spice (the place I used to own before I turned it into Gemini. I owned both places), and the other half has…burgers, I guess? I just don’t know what I was thinking. Did I want to make burgers? Why didn’t I just open up a burger restaurant too?

I went to Gemini the other day, because I’m the owner and visiting the restaurant is expected of me, and there wasn’t anybody there. I don’t just mean no customers, the restaurant was literally empty. Did I forget to hire staff? Was the one waiter-bartender-janitor hiding as part of some elaborate practical joke?

Seriously, I don’t get what Gemini is trying to do. Somebody should ask the owner, but then again, that’s me. I’m the owner, and I’m confused too. There’s a bubble tea poster in the window, but I don’t even know if we own a bubble tea machine—are we just throwing tapioca in a fruit smoothie? Seriously, none of this makes sense.

Did I visit Shark Bar and Grill and decide to emulate that confused, jumbled mess of a restaurant, except with fewer Italians and fewer other types of people too? Did I stop at any point and think, "Maybe this isn’t such a good idea for a business?” These are questions to which I may never have answers.
