Infant Using Up Goodwill Pretty Quick

Published Friday, December 5th, 2014

Local newborn Ava Newton has started to become a bit of a drag only a couple weeks after being born, her parents reported Tuesday.

Ava was welcomed into the world only a month ago by John and Maria Newton. In the days since, however, her incessant screaming, crying, and vomiting have worn her welcome thin.

“I’ll never forget the magical moment I first held Ava in my arms,” John said. “I’ll also never forget the time she screamed all night and spit up on my dress shirt in the morning. Sort of puts the magic in perspective.”

“She has such an adorable little face,” Maria said of her 35-day-old daughter. “But that cuteness only goes so far when you’re wiping up poop five times a day.”

The Newtons also cited activities such as spoon feeding and frequent supply runs as draining their energy. “It’s a little more than we initially accounted for,” Maria said. “At first, we had fun going on parenting forums to see what we should buy and what we should stay away from, but now it’s just exhausting.”

“We could do weekly visitation,” John said of their schedule. “Show up, take care of her for a bit, then put her down and get some time to ourselves to sleep more than three hours in a row or whatever. Is half-adoption a thing? Can we do that?”

Ava did not respond to requests for comment.
