Man Stuck Under A Rock For Several Days Upset They Probably Won't Make Another Movie About This

Published Friday, September 5th, 2014

Darren Coleman, who recently spent over five days trapped under a boulder in Utah after a hiking accident, expressed worry that Hollywood had probably had its fill of inspirational stories about this sort of thing.

Coleman, whose story bears a remarkable similarity to that of Aron Ralston, the mountain climber immortalized in the popular film 127 Hours, even had to resort to sawing off one of his own limbs with a dull two-inch knife, although it was Coleman’s left arm that was stuck between the chockstone and the wall of the ravine, and not his right.

“It’s tough, because I was actually stuck for longer than that other guy,” said Coleman, who was only able to free himself after a grueling 132 hours, after running out of food and water and resorting to drinking his own urine. “I could have had James Franco playing me in a best picture nominated movie but no, of course I’m stuck in this hospital bed with nothing to show for it.”

“It doesn’t look like Darren’s going to make it,” said the doctor who found Coleman collapsed in the desert, suffering from heatstroke, dehydration and massive blood loss, “At least not in Hollywood. There was nothing I could do. It just seems a little derivative."

At press time, Coleman was wondering what other limbs he’d have to lose before he snagged a feature.
