Sources report that area mathematician Ron Edwards is nervous about the introduction of his forthcoming textbook. “I really worry this isn’t good enough," Edwards said, explaining that the introduction is the most important part of a math textbook. "In Mathematics, the introduction is the critical section where you open a student’s eyes to not just methodologies of problem-solving, but the wonderful applications of those methodologies in the real world.” At press time, Edwards was trying to find the right picture of a basketball to accompany his discussion of vector fields.
