Misogynistic Senator Has Change of Heart After Daughter Comes Out as Woman

Published Friday, May 3rd, 2013

This Wednesday, Senator Rob Dorman revealed at a press conference that he has come to reconsider his views on women’s rights since his daughter, 21-year-old Rachel Dorman, came out to him as a woman during her freshman year of college. “She sat me down and told me she’d known she was a woman for some time,” Dorman recalled in an interview. “I was surprised. I never expected a woman in my own family.”

Dorman, who fought tirelessly to oppress women and defend the definition of a person as “a genetic union between one X and one Y chromosome,” said on Wednesday that since finding out about his daughter’s gender, he has rethought his own views. “My position was rooted in my faith in Jesus, who preached love for everyone except those I find kind of gross: females,” Dorman said. “Now that I know my daughter is a woman, women seem a little less gross.”

Dorman has expressed gratitude to his daughter for helping his views evolve. “If she hadn’t come out to me, it seems unlikely I would have been able to grasp the value of giving equal rights even to those I don’t generally interact with.” But Dorman reassured constituents that views on other subjects would not take a similarly progressive turn.

“As far as I know, my daughter is straight, does not need an abortion, and is not a polar ice cap,” said Dorman. “So don’t worry about my views on other issues changing.”
