Mom Turns Volume Dial Down By One

Published Tuesday, October 6th, 2015

Citing it as a repeat offense, children of local mom Susan reported that she turned the volume dial down by one.

“We were in the car, all listening to the radio,” recalled her daughter Meghan. “She must have thought that the song was too loud, because she turned the volume down by one. But she must not have thought that it was very much too loud, or else she would have turned it down by more.”

“The song was ‘Magic Man’ by Heart, which is a pretty good song,” continued Meghan, who was in the front seat at the time of the incident. “And given the slight change in volume, it did not seem worth the physical effort required to turn the volume knob. You can also change the volume from the steering wheel. But I don’t think she knows that.”

Her son, Sam, who also witnessed the event, suggested that it could be an attempt to assert control. “It’s like the third time she’s done it since we got in the car. Maybe it’s meant as a reminder to us that she’s still in charge even though she’s the one driving us around? I really don’t think the ear can detect changes that small.”

“I like ‘Magic Man,’” said Susan.
