According to local movie buff Alex Farrington, the film he just watched is a cinematic masterpiece because nobody can really understand its plot, central themes, or characters.
“Wow. What an incredible film!” Farrington exclaimed as he left the theater with no idea what had actually happened during the movie. “Narrative arcs and Hollywood endings are such tropes in the entertainment industry these days. It’s great to see a movie that’s doing something different.”
“I think the film’s greatest strength is its ambiguity,” Farrington added, acknowledging that none of the film’s characters had names and the action was an incoherent jumble of unrelated scenes. “It just leaves so much up to the audience’s interpretation.”
“These kinds of films only come around once a generation,” Farrington continued as he scrolled desperately through Reddit explanations of the movie to grasp even the slightest bit of meaning from its plot. “I see it as an allegory of our modern society. Things just happen, and they don’t have to make sense.”
At press time, Farrington’s favorite band’s new album was only groundbreaking because it sounded like absolute shit.
