Nation's Dentists Announce New Thing You Should Be Using But Won't

Published Wednesday, December 3rd, 2014

The nation’s dentists recently released a statement urging the American public to begin using dental buffers, a new product that everyone definitely should use but probably won’t.

The American Dental Association recommends that, in order to maintain healthy teeth and gums, Americans should use dental buffers at least three times per week, which, let’s face it, just isn’t going to happen. Dentists have started informing their patients about dental buffers and have given out over 7,000 samples that will end up sitting untouched in medicine cabinets for six months before being thrown away.

“Dental buffers sound really important,” said Providence local Carl Stewart. “I would definitely like to try them. Probably not right now, but maybe in a few weeks.”

According to an ADA study, dental buffers reduce cavities by 16 percent, a fact that won’t convince any Americans to use them.

“My dentist told me I should be using dental buffers. I could definitely see myself using them, for sure,” said Carrie Jackal, who will use the product a total of two times.

At press time, the nation’s dentists reported that they have been encouraged by the number of patients promising to start using teeth trays within the next month—and definitely before their next appointment.
