A new study published Wednesday reveals that just ten minutes of daily meditation can decrease stress for up to ten minutes per day. “Our results give strong evidence that practicing mindfulness can have a profound impact on the mind for the entire time spent practicing mindfulness,” said lead researcher Dr. Lydia Kim, adding that the positive effects of a meditation session may even persist for a few seconds after it ends. “If you feel stressed and overwhelmed, our study suggests that meditating just a little can reduce those feelings just a little.” Dr. Kim says her next project will investigate the still-unclear link between reduced caloric intake and weight loss.
