Newborn Lamb Sick Of Being Typecast As Symbol Of Spring, Rebirth

Published Friday, April 9th, 2021

Newborn lamb Downy McPhee is tired of being typecast as a symbol of spring and rebirth.

“I may be freshly out of the womb, but that doesn’t mean I shouldn’t be given roles with more gravitas,” said McPhee, adorably yawning in a field of blooming daffodils. “Directors look at me and immediately see the beautiful dawning of a new season. I don’t even get the chance to prove my range.”

“Pastel pink isn’t my color at all, contrary to popular belief,” continued McPhee, spryly frolicking through shoots of newly sprouted grass. “It’s time for me to branch out from appearing on baby shower invitations and Easter basket decorations alone. Maybe my next photoshoot could be for a punk band, or maybe I should just start wearing outfits that show a little more wool. I need my audience to know that I’m not the same sweet little newborn lamb anymore.”

“I’m not the only one who feels this way,” added McPhee, softly nibbling on a small piece of straw. “Newly hatched chicks, tiny bunnies, we’re all in the same boat. The world only sees us as fluffy, tender, sweet, vulnerable babies.”

At press time, a local butterfly breaking out of its cocoon was sick of being a symbol of change and growth.
