Sources report that popular TikTok song “A Meadow Full of Daisies” used to be a Vietnam protest anthem.
“I mostly know it as background music for videos about how to use contact paper to waterproof your shoes,” said Max Wang of the song, not realizing that it became famous when Vietnam War protestors would join hands and sing it at demonstrations. “But apparently it was, like, important in the 60s or something.”
“My girlfriend also uses it a lot in her makeup story-time videos,” said Wang, unaware that the song soundtracked most campus walk-outs against the draft in the late 60s and early 70s. “It’s got that acoustic guitar thing for a chill energy.”
“It’s a pretty catchy tune that’s just kind of about vibing,” said Wang, even though the song specifically references US war crimes against Vietnamese civilians and calls for a government focus on childhood poverty rather than military spending. “I’ve stitched it in a couple videos about how to make pasta chips with an air fryer.”
At press time, Wang was dancing to Michael Jackson’s “Billie Jean,” totally unaware of what it’s about.
