As the clock struck 1:00 PM, religious studies professor Evelyn Trandle announced that she was just gonna wait a few more minutes for people to trickle in. “Looks like we’re missing a couple people, so let’s just give them a few minutes,” Trandle told the nine students who had shown up to the seminar, glancing at her watch and shuffling the papers in front of her. “I’m pretty sure Kayla is coming today, since she’s giving a presentation. I’m not sure about Mark. Has anyone heard from him? I think he might be sick. I’ll just give them another minute, and then we’ll get going.” As the class ended, Trandle announced that she’d stick around for few minutes in case anyone wanted to chat.
