Report: 87% Of Objects Now Contain Calculator Function

Published Wednesday, December 3rd, 2014

According to a report by the Consumer Research Center at Stanford University, 87% of objects now contain a calculator function. “Virtually all modern devices feature a working calculator,” said Kate Miller, one of the report’s authors, noting that a majority of objects can now be used to do simple arithmetic. “Tablets, cell phones, microwaves, refrigerators—the list goes on. Anyone who needs to solve a simple math problem need only reach for an object in their immediate vicinity. Chances are, that thing will also function as a calculator.” The report also indicated that 92% of actual calculators are now on clearance at stores and businesses across the country.
