As they set up their defensive line to prevent a third down conversion, the Westville High School Jaguars are completely oblivious to the fact they are the antagonists of the fictional universe they inhabit. Westville, who have trained for months in order to prepare for the state championship, have no idea they exist only to act as an obstacle for the story arc of the Cleveland High School Quakers.
“Let’s go out there and play some good football,” said Westville coach Albert Franks, unaware that he is being portrayed as a ruthless, aggressive man who would do anything to win.
Westville parents and administrators have spent the season making sure their team had the support necessary to be the best team they could possibly be while Cleveland’s preparation consisted entirely of a four-minute training montage and a speech about what it means to have heart.
“Remember to watch out for number 36, he’s a killer receiver,” said Westville linebacker John Abrams, not knowing that aggressive rock and roll music plays whenever his team is onscreen.
Though Westville is the odds-on favorite to win the state championship, inside sources are predicting Cleveland quarterback Rich Sterling’s recent confrontation with his overbearing father may give Cleveland the dramatic conflict they need to pull out a victory.
At press time, Westville’s defensive line was currently waiting tensely for the snap, not knowing that the whole narrative tone of the film in which they are appearing would depend on this moment.
