Senator’s Friends Always Pitching Him Ideas For Bills

Published Friday, April 24th, 2015

Saying that he finds it mildly annoying, Senator Ron Johnson (R-WI) told reporters Tuesday that his friends are always pitching him ideas for bills.

“The annoying thing about being in Congress is that everyone sort of thinks they’re in Congress, too,” Johnson said, adding that friends and relatives are incessantly suggesting legislation across the political spectrum. “The other day my friend Peter suggested I write a bill getting rid of speed limits. Guy’s a total speed freak. Obviously no self-respecting senator could put that through the Congress.”

Johnson told reporters that he can’t go a day without someone trying to suggest another idea. “Someone asked that I pass a bill freezing the number of judges on the Supreme Court at nine,” Johnson said. “People have tried for years and it ain’t gonna happen. That’s the thing. People are always suggesting easy or played out bills. I know the history, which is why I’m the senator, not them.”

“The worst is when I tell them which bills I’m working on and they’re overly critical,” Johnson added. “You know what they say: Everyone’s a senator.”

Johnson also told reporters that he hates when his friends try to assassinate him, which he said happens more frequently than you’d think.
