Sources report that Brown University senior Elliot Pope, still without a post-grad job offer, is leaning pretty hard into the COVID narrative. “Well I had a summer internship that got cancelled because of COVID, so that really shows how the job market is really different this year,” Pope said after applying to one, maybe two, random jobs on LinkedIn. “A lot of places have hiring freezes right now, and the 2020 graduates are still unemployed also, so that’s why I don’t have an offer, no other reason.” At press time, Pope was scrolling through Handshake but only applying to jobs where he didn’t match all the employer preferences.
