Seven Mattress Stores in Two-Mile Radius Not a Drug Front

Published Friday, September 16th, 2016

Sources report that the seven mattress stores in extremely close proximity to one another are certainly not a cover for the laundering of drug money.

Various employees and managers vehemently denied to reporters that their stores were fronts for drug sales despite having few mattresses, no financial records documenting mattress purchases from wholesale retailers and periodic visits from individuals seeking out things like “a gram for 50 just like last time.”

“Yeah, the guys coming in are just looking for mattress springs. They’re hard to come by,” said Vincent Capelli, owner of Mattress Kingdom on Governor Street, a store which had approximately eight mattresses on display and none in the back room. When asked about the stores dearth of mattresses and other bedding, Capelli told reporters, “Business is just so great that we run out of mattresses real fast.”

“We mattress store folk work tightly together,” said James Canfield, manager at the Mattress Guys. “There’s such a high a demand and so much federal regulation.”

At press time, a couple could be heard asking if Canfield had any Tempurpedics for sale.
