Student Been In Library So Long Bare Feet Starting To Seem Like Good Idea

Published Friday, December 16th, 2022

Unsure of the last time she wasn’t surrounded by concrete, first-year student Alyssa Hilado has been in the SciLi for so long that the thought of going barefoot is starting to seem like a good idea.

“It sure would be nice to free my feet from the tough rubber soles and poor insulation of my sneakers,” said Hilado, wiggling her toes around and thinking about how much more she could wiggle them around if she just took her shoes off. “Honestly, I should probably take my socks off too. Things are getting pretty sweaty down there."

Under normal circumstances, Hilado would never walk around the library with bare feet. However, listening to the light hum of the SciLi basement for an ungodly amount of time has loosened her stance on the policy.

“What’s the harm in going commando on the foot front?” added Hilado, slowly unlacing her sneakers. “I bet that they clean these carpets all the time. In fact, it would be a shame if I didn’t take this opportunity to walk around the library barefoot. Surely, a nice little no-shoe stroll would not only refresh my feet but also my mind!”

At press time, Hilado had enjoyed her barefoot library experience so much that she was thinking of ditching her shower shoes in the communal bathroom.
