Ryan Polish ’15 is reportedly “super into” artist Keith Haring. “The bold colors, the thick lines,” he gushed to reporters. “Everything about Keith’s work appeals to me on, like, this intense personal level.”
Polish first saw Haring’s artwork on a postage stamp in high school and was instantly hooked. “There’s such a strong sense of movement in his work. It was like nothing I’d ever seen before,” he said.
Prints and posters of Haring’s work cover Polish’s dorm room. “The level of joy present in his paintings just inspires me to live with more exuberance and compassion,” explained Polish. “If you have to ask, I guess you’ll never truly understand.”
Polish is adamant that the positivity Haring’s work gives off will one day change the world. “Some people think it’s fluorescent lightbulbs that’ll end our problems. Some say it’s microloans. Me, I believe in the power of a 1980s-era pop artist who makes me feel happy in a way no other person or thing ever can.”
Concluded Polish, “I just really, really like Keith Haring, guys.”
