During a birthday sleepover last weekend, an unexpected text from Scott sent Emily’s slumber party into a fit of chaos. Reading simply, “happy bday,” the text caused birthday girl Emily Jefferson to shriek with unbridled excitement, interrupting a previously lackluster truth or dare circle.

“Eeeeeeek!” the group of 12-year olds squealed after viewing the message for themselves, forgoing their face masks to furiously speculate about the layered meanings behind the birthday regards. “OMG, OMG! He totally likes you!”

At press time, Scott’s two-word message had caused three hysteric fits, two broken hearts, and prevented four guests from completing their friendship bracelets.
