Five men have portrayed the iconic superhero Batman over the franchise’s storied eight-film run, but none have more poignantly captured the spirit of the Caped Crusader than Michael Keaton. I realize that declaring Michael Keaton’s performance to be the best Batman is a somewhat controversial statement, but Michael Keaton is my dad and he is the best.
One of Keaton’s iconic moments from the film comes when he grabs a terrified crook by the throat, holds him over the side of a building and growls into his face, “I’m Batman.” This is the best superhero movie line ever. No one could say that line as good as my dad. My dad can do anything better than anyone. That’s why he got the part. When he said that line to Tim Burton, I bet he was like “Whoa!” because he saw what I see every day: how awesome my dad is.
Every Batman since my dad doesn’t even begin compare to the standard he set. Val Kilmer was forgettable because he was not my dad. George Clooney’s made good jokes in his movie but they were not as good as the one’s my dad makes. My dad is hilarious and was a great Batman.
Growing up, Batman was a good role model who showed me what it means to be a leader and stand up for what is right because Batman was my dad. My dad is not just a really funny guy but he is also very strong, physically and emotionally. That is why he was such an awesome Batman.
Ben Affleck is hitting the silver screen as Batman soon, but if Ben Affleck thinks he can replace my dad just like my mom’s new husband Tom tried to, he’s got another thing coming.
