"This Is Our Song," Whispers Husband As Chumbawumba Hit Single "Tubthumping" Plays In Background

Sources at his cousin’s wedding reception report that area man Richard Mantle leaned over and whispered, “This is our song,” into his wife’s ear, as Chumbawumba’s hit single “Tubthumping” began to play in the background.

“Remember when we slow-danced to this at Malloy’s because it was our favorite song?” asked Mantle, raising his voice to be heard over a cover of the British band’s only famous track, known more commonly by its iconic lyric, “I get knocked down." "Remember what this meant to both of us? Come on, I know you remember.”

Mantle said he was surprised his wife was always forgetting about the song that they definitely more or less tacitly agreed was “their song."

“This is totally us, babe. This is our story,” exclaimed Mantle excitedly, taking his wife’s silence as loving agreement. “We get knocked down! I love it!”

Mantle was even more overjoyed when the band followed up by playing their wedding song: breakthrough hit “The Middle,” by American alternative rock band Jimmy Eat World.
