Tony Romo Disappointed in Tony Romo’s Performance on Fantasy Football Team

Published Friday, December 7th, 2012

After watching him perform below NFL.com’s projections for an eighth consecutive week, Dallas Cowboys Quarterback Tony Romo is reportedly frustrated with the performance of his fantasy football quarterback, Dallas Cowboys Quarterback Tony Romo.

Citing his fantasy QB’s low yardage total and frequent turnovers, Romo called drafting Romo onto his fantasy team “an enormous mistake.”

“Every week it seems like he throws another two interceptions, or loses another fumble,” Romo said, berating the avatar representing his own statistical performance. “I knew he had a reputation for inconsistency, but I didn’t think he would be this terrible.”

The Dallas QB, who plays fantasy and actual football in a league with a number of his coworkers, complained that he is mocked and criticized on a weekly basis because of his fantasy quarterback’s poor performance. “The guys at work, they always warn me it’s a matter of time before [Romo] should be ditched altogether," he said. "I’m not sure that’s such a bad idea. From my perspective he’s been a total bust.”

While he takes fantasy football more seriously than the average fan, Romo admits that his worries about his fantasy team’s performance permeate deeper into his life than he’d like them to. “When I’m at work on Sundays, I can barely concentrate. I’m always thinking in the back of my mind that, at that very moment, Tony Romo is probably throwing the fantasy game away.”

“Well fuck,” Romo said, turning on his laptop and watching a replay of an interception he himself threw 30 seconds earlier. “He did it again. Just like I said, the guy can barely concentrate.”

“Just look at him!” Romo exclaimed, watching video highlights of himself checking his fantasy football scores on the sidelines instead of going over the playbook. “He needs to get his head in the game.”

Romo concluded by noting that, if his fantasy QB’s stats don’t improve, he’d have to think about cutting him. “I drafted him early, so it’d be a tough move,” Romo said, “but if my QB play doesn’t get any better I’ll end up the laughingstock of my league.”
