A study authored by top researchers from Brown’s Urban Studies department has confirmed that, in the big city, nothing is impossible.
“After a thorough spatial, structural, and sociological analysis of the nation’s top urban centers, we have confirmed that, in the big city, the only thing higher than the buildings are your dreams,” said co-author of the study Dr. Phillip Ray, gesturing to a photo of a bustling metropolis where every person has a story to tell. “We have data confirming long-held suspicions that, in the big city, you can be whoever you want to be. An actress, an architect, a musician: all you have to do is want it. If you have a dream, your home is the big city.”
The study also confirmed that there are special times in the big city when nothing stands in your way, such as New Year’s Eve when a million lonely people gather downtown all looking for the same thing: the one.
“Allow me to provide a representative example. Though this woman may seem like just a waitress, she actually dreams of becoming a fashion designer,” continued Dr. Ray. “Though she waits tables by day, at night she wows the city with her spectacular designs, reinventing herself each and every day. And one day she just might serve dinner to the president of Vogue! Nowhere else but the city!”
In addition to this landmark study, the Urban Studies department has also authored a report finding that you’re going to get out of this small town one day.
