Since following Yodel the aging French bulldog, local woman Renee Scott has been living in constant fear of the inevitable.
“Checking Yodel’s page is the highlight of my day, but I know that eventually, his owner will post news that will absolutely ruin my day,” said Scott as she scrolled through Yodel’s Instagram feed. “He’s been looking a bit stiff lately, but maybe it’s just an arthritis flare up? Poor little guy.”
“I love his sweet gray face and wrinkles, but I can’t help but panic whenever I see a photo in black and white, especially if he’s in his bed. Then I have to speed read the caption to make sure it doesn’t include ‘rainbow bridge.’”
“But he’s so cute! Those snug sweaters he wears to keep his body temperature up—just adorable!” stated Scott as she watched a video of Yodel fall asleep standing up. “And hey, his eyes are looking a bit brighter in this one! Wait, no, those are just his cataracts.”
At press time, Scott was browsing through Instagram for other elderly dogs to follow, just in case.
