Saying that they found it a little unfair, players for the New England Patriots told reporters they were frustrated that head coach Bill Belichick was starting his son Brian at quarterback this season.
Players complained to reporters that they think the only reason Brian gets to play QB this season is that his dad is the coach. Several stars argued that four-time Super Bowl winning quarterback Tom Brady is the clear choice to play QB, but that Brian was sure to hold on to the starting job, on account of his being a Belichick.
“Don’t get me wrong, Brian is a fine athlete, and a terrific guy, but I don’t know that he’s a starting QB in the NFL,” wide receiver Julian Edelman said, adding that the 19-year-old college freshman might be benefiting from something other than his performance at practices. “I’m not gonna use the word nepotism, but it seems to me that the kid’s starting because his dad’s the coach. You didn’t hear it from me though.”
“Guy’s a competitor, and I’m gonna fight him for the job,” said previous QB Tom Brady, who many believe is the greatest quarterback of all time. “He’s a fighter on and off the field. I love football.”
At press time, Coach Belichick could be heard shouting “That’s my son!” from the sidelines.
