BDH Reporter Waiting In Darkened Alleyway For Anonymous Source On Upcoming CareerLAB Webinar

Published Friday, December 16th, 2022

Furtively looking over his shoulder as his wristwatch nears 3 AM, a BDH reporter is waiting in a darkened alleyway for an anonymous source on an upcoming CareerLAB webinar.

“My editor has been on my ass to get a good scoop, and I’ve been starting to get nervous I was gonna get canned if I didn’t cover a real story soon,” said BDH junior writer Peter Rubin ‘26, nervously tapping his foot on asphalt and avoiding eye contact with the occasional sketchy passerby. “But, just last night, I get an anonymous call from a modulated voice telling me to meet him here. Normally, I wouldn’t take up something like this, but I was desperate. Plus, he promised information on something really juicy for the BDH: information about how to sign up for a CareerLAB Zoom panel on how to write a cover letter.”

According to Rubin, the anonymous source claims to work for the CareerLAB, so he could be dangerous.

“If I get to be the one to break this story, it’ll set my career on a whole new trajectory,” said Rubin, his heartbeat racing as he saw a cloaked figure approach slowly through the alley while holding a thick manilla folder labeled “CLASSIFIED.” “But more importantly, the people have a right to know the truth about a story as important as this. Whether the webinar features cover letter advice from recent Brown grads or people farther along in their careers could change everything. Here he comes, let’s change the world.”

At press time, Rubin’s triumphant article on the CareerLAB webinar was skimmed by six people.
