According to breaking reports, local grandmother Martha Neilson is now so much smaller than she was the last time her grandkids saw her. “She opened the door, and I couldn’t believe how tiny she’d gotten,” said granddaughter Ellen Casey.
Casey’s updates from her grandmother’s Gloucester, Mass., home indicate that Neilson is significantly shorter and more hunched over than she was last time Casey visited a year ago. Sources close to the situation confirm that the elderly woman is as sharp as ever, but she does appear to be using a cane now, which sources did not recall seeing last time.
After bending down to give her grandmother a hug, Casey told reporters that she spent a while thinking about how she used to sit on her grandmother’s lap, an idea that seems impossible now.
Late-breaking reports indicate that Neilson has been asking her granddaughter to help her reach the top shelf of her kitchen cabinet, a task she used to do without a second thought. “It happened all of a sudden,” Casey commented. “I’m taller than her now. I’m the one who helps her.”
Reports note that Neilson has gotten noticeably frailer in the past few years, but sources confirm that she’s the same old Grammy after all. And everyone feels lucky to have her around.
